A lawsuit alleges state Department of Transportation officials illegally sold personal information of tens of thousands of licensed drivers.   According to a story in The Northwestern, the plaintiffs claim the state violated the U.S. Driver’s Privacy Protection Act by selling the information to companies that make it available on the web.

Florida recently settled a similar suit.
